# Visa Copy - Chinese certificates translated into English for a visa file

## What is free
- Lines numbered as pasted (up to 120 lines, 8,000 characters); the document type recognised from its title (deposit, statement, income, employment, retirement, property, business licence, household register, birth, marriage, divorce, no criminal record, degree, graduation, enrolment, leave approval).
- Dates: 2024年3月5日, 二〇二四年三月五日, 2024.03.05, 2024-3-5, 20240305 and month-only forms, checked against the calendar and written as 5 March 2024 (or March 5, 2024 for a US visa).
- Amounts with their currency: ¥536,000.00, 人民币28,500元, 34.2万元 (= 342,000), and capital numerals such as 伍拾叁万陆仟元整, given in English words too; words and figure on the same or the next line must agree.
- Resident ID numbers: the ISO 7064 MOD 11-2 check character recomputed, the birth date and sex read and compared with what the document states. Account, reference and phone numbers kept digit for digit.
- Names after labels (姓名, 户名, 存款人, 申请人, 联系人 and others) and after 兹证明, spelled SURNAME Given with surname readings (曾 Zeng, 单 Shan, 欧阳 Ouyang) and passport style for ü (吕 LYU); characters with two readings are flagged; passport spellings typed by the user win.
- Standard English for common terms and the major Chinese banks.
- The photo of the original, if added, is used only for page one of the print and never leaves the browser.
- Three samples (a deposit certificate, an employment certificate for a US trip, a retirement certificate with a smudge) replay saved translations at no cost.

## The metered task
One task, `translate`, on gpt-terra, metered per run. Input string fields: `task`, `doc_type`, `date_style`, `lines` (numbered L1, L2, ...) and `facts` (every date, amount, number and name with its English form, known terms, the page's warnings). The reply is one JSON object: `title`, `lines` (each `line`, `en`), `notes` (each `line`, `note`), `verdict` (`ready` or `check`) and `note`. The page checks every sent line is translated once, every date and amount appears in its English form in its own line (with the words for a capital-numeral amount), every number is copied digit for digit, every name uses its spelling, no number appears that the line does not have, no Chinese stays outside parentheses, and every warning is carried as a note.
